Parrot – our rotary drone partner

KOREC offers a full portfolio of surveying drone solutions that includes senseFly’s* fixed wing offering and more recently, rotary drones from Parrot under the ANAFI name.

The Parrot company is based in Paris and was founded in 1994 by Henri Sedoux. With over 500 employees worldwide, it is the leading European group in the fast-growing drone industry. Recognised for its visionary approach, it is a leader in innovative drone products, making it a perfect partner for KOREC!

Our relationship with Parrot began in 2018

We sought to meet our KOREC customer requirements for drones that were more suited to applications such as inspection work, asset inspection and construction progress reporting etc due to their manoeuvrability, ability to hover and ability to take-off and land vertically.

The KOREC portfolio includes the ANAFI USA (ideal for emergency services with 32x zoom), the ANAFI Work (ultra compact) and most recently the ANAFI Ai (excellent 4G comms-ideal for Beyond Visual Line of Sight flights, staying connected even behind obstacles).

KOREC customers cite the flexibility of Parrot drones and their compact form factor as drivers in their success. However for some users, such as PDS Surveys, it is the fact that they are extremely quiet and unobtrusive that is important, especially when working in residential areas.

However, Parrot is a company noted for several reasons. It is an open company providing an open SDK to the developers’ community. It is also extremely trusted because of its developments in the area of cybersecurity, especially prevalent in the ANAFI USA and again with the introduction of 4G comms in the ANAFI Ai, which ensure robust connectivity between the controller and the drone so that users are not subject to interference whilst in-flight transfers can be made. A white paper on the 4G comms can be downloaded here.

* senseFly is 57% owned by Parrot since 2012. Parrot also part owns Swiss photogrammetry company Pix4D, which provides ANAFI compatible planning and control software.

We've answered some of the most common questions about ANAFI below.

What applications are ANAFI drones best suited to?

Inspection: buildings, infrastructures, telecom towers, wind turbines, solar panels, pipe-lines, refineries. Photogrammetry: mapping, surveying, 3D modeling, orthophotography. Construction monitoring, automated surveillance, real estate, insurance and video creation.

Does KOREC have any approved partners for drone demonstrations?

Yes, Drone Pilot Academy (DPA) is now an approved KOREC partner for drone demonstrations as well as our provider for flight/pilot training.

What is included in the KOREC ANAFI Ai package?

1 ANAFI Ai drone, 1 hard case, 1 Skycontroller 4 remote, 1 smart battery, 1 USB-PD (Power Delivery) fast charger, 1 USB-C – Lightning cable, 2 USB-C – USB-C cab and 1 additional set of propeller blades.

What is Parrot’s new Skycontroller4?

Cumbersome cables are no longer required with the Skycontroller4 because it enables the use of an iPad mini and all large smartphones. The controller also features an HDMI output, which allows for streaming videos from the ANAFI Ai.

What functionality do 4G comms bring to the ANAFI Ai?

Users will no longer experience transmission limitations thanks to the ANAFI Ai’s 4G connectivity, which enables precise control at any distance.

For Beyond Visual Line of Sight flights, it stays connected even behind obstacles. For the first time, ANAFI Ai embeds a Secure Element in the drone and in its Skycontroller4. The 4G link between the drone and the user’s phone is encrypted.  The Secure Element protects both the integrity of the software and the privacy of data transferred.
