Tribrachs and Adaptors

Tribrachs are an important part of your surveying kit, as they are used to attach a surveying instrument to a tripod. They’re crucial for ensuring the accuracy of measurements as they allow survey equipment to be placed in the same positions over marker points with sub-millimetre accuracy, and without recalibration.

What Are Surveying Tribrachs and Adaptors

Tribrachs are formed of two (often but not always) triangular metal plates, connected with levelling thumbscrews. They also have a level and a locking mechanism, and many will have an optical plummet, which allows the user to precisely position their equipment over a survey marker.

They are used to attach GNSS antennas, total stations and theodolites to surveying tripods. Using the screws and adjusting the legs of the tripod, a surveyor is able to level the equipment as needed, and centre it over the marker.

Tribrachs are rigorously tested to ensure optimum precision, torsional rigidity and stability, and are designed to be incredibly durable, standing up to even the toughest weather and environmental conditions. We have tribrachs both with and without optical plummets, so whatever your equipment needs, we’ve got you covered.

Adaptors, meanwhile, are usually used to attach a prism to a pole or carrier as part of setting up a total station. Our range of tribrachs and adaptors will ensure easy and accurate setup for many years to come, whatever your surveying environment.
