  • GNSS Survey and Data Processing Course
    All day
    20/05/2025-21/05/2025

GNSS Survey and Data Processing Course

    2 Day Course:

The GNSS background session provides a comprehensive theoretical foundation for a training course on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technologies. It covers the critical aspects of how GNSS systems like GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou function to provide global positioning capabilities.

The course explains the importance of time in obtaining GNSS-derived positions and the necessity of using two receivers for high-precision positioning. It delves into the WGS84 coordinate system, which is standard for GPS, and outlines various causes of errors (biases) in GNSS systems such as multipath effects, atmospheric delays, and signal obstructions.

Participants will engage in hands-on exercises focusing on data collection, employing a FastStatic methodology to establish a compact network of Control Stations. Practical sessions will involve GNSS baseline processing and network adjustment utilising Trimble Business Center. Guidance will be provided during the baseline processing segment regarding acceptable error margins and the utilization of precise ephemeris data. Additionally, the network adjustment session will involve refining shorter occupation points to align with longer occupation points. Ordnance Survey RINEX data will be employed to adjust the longer occupation points to precise coordinates, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the process.

Through this training, participants would be equipped to handle GNSS equipment more effectively, understand the technicalities of GNSS data processing, and mitigate common sources of error in GNSS surveying.
