OSNet network maintenance

It has been brought to our attention that the Ordnance Survey UK are planning to perform maintenance work on their OSNet active GNSS base station system. This will impact all systems related to the OSNet, including Trimble’s VRS Now amongst other GNSS network RTK correction systems in use within the UK. The maintenance work is planned to take place between the hours of 0900UTC and 1000UTC (9am to 10am GMT) on 20th November and 27th November 2011. The planned work is expected to result in a total loss of connections to the OSNet station data stream for up to 45… Read More

Scouting for Buoys!

We’re always delighted to hear about unusual applications for KOREC supplied Trimble kit, so our special thanks go to Alison Bear who supplied us with the words for this story, and Claire Milburn who supplied the pictures. Surveyors Alison and Claire both work as part of the Strategic Regional Coastal Monitoring Programme (SRCMP) for the South East of England and are responsible for monitoring the beaches between the Isle of Grain and Beachy Head. They conduct topographic beach surveys three times a year in the Spring, Summer and Autumn and if required, post storm surveys. Alison Bear: Although most of… Read More

Keep your antenna files up to date.

Anyone who uses Trimble office software to process GPS data relies (even though they may not know it) on the antenna.ini file stored on their PC to allow TGO, TBC, etc to recognise the antennae that were used to receive the data during the survey. Without this file it becomes necessary to enter all of the antenna phase centre offset information, and other antenna specific data, by hand in the software. Much easier to let the computer do it for you! As improvements are made in antenna technology new models are brought out by the numerous manufacturers making it important… Read More

Config update for GPS post-processing

For all those who use Trimble office software to post-process GNSS survey data there is now a new configuration update file available dated 20th August 2010. This file updates the antenna and receiver information used in GPS post processing to ensure that the best possible levels of accuracy are achieved from your data. As the Ordnance Survey take advantage of the regular improvements in receiver and antenna technology it is important to keep up to date with the characteristics of any new hardware in order to calculate GPS positions accurately and correctly. The latest Configuration update file can be found… Read More

¡Hola! in the Ground – Trimble Construction Live – Madrid

The KOREC Machine Control team recently accompanied a number of our key customers to Trimble’s Machine Control demonstration day in Madrid.  Customers were given the opportunity to see for themselves first hand the benefits of using Trimble productivity solutions and to get onto the machines to learn just how easy-to-use the systems are.  The Madrid TCL event follows the success of last year’s event in the UK which was supported by KOREC. Demonstrations included updates on the Trimble Site Positioning Systems with sessions on the SPS Supervisor System, SPS RTK GPS with SCS900 as well as new introductions that included… Read More
