My Data Transfer update didn’t work…

9:32 am | Posted by Martin

It has been noted that, in some circumstances, running the Data Transfer v1.49 update does not do all that is necessary to download and convert every combination of file transfers available. In the event that the same “database version wrong” error continues to appear after running the Trimble Data Transfer v1.49 installation it will be necessary to do the following:

Browse to http://www.trimble.com/tsc_ts.asp?Nav=Collection-63178 then run “Step 1: Trimble Data Transfer” AND “Step 2: Update Office Software”.

If your browser does not support direct installation using the “one-click install” function on Trimble’s webpage it may be necessary to download the files to your computer first and then run them from there.

Connecting Juno SC to the internet

Trimble Juno

Trimble Juno

When connecting a Juno SC to the internet, they are slightly different from the normal settings usually found on other Trimble Windows Mobile devices.

Firstly the dial string.  The usual dial string is:- +CGDCONT=1,”IP”,” internet”

However for a Juno SC:-  AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”internet”<CR>

The extras at the start and end are crucial and will not work without it.  Although it does tell you this in the dial string editor on the unit.

Then under Start menu > Settings> Connections > Connections > Add new modem connection

Enter a name for the connection

Choose ‘Internal Celluar Modem’ (if using a SIM in the device! )

It will then ask for a number to dial. Enter *99#

For Vodaphone Users your username is gprs and password is also gprs. Leave the Domain blank and you don’t need to set anything in Advanced.

Select Finish.  The press and hold on the connection you have just created and select connect.  The antenna at the top of the screen will change to two arrows.  You are now conected to the internet for whatever use you require.

For other networks please contact support for the relevant setup details.  KOREC supply Vodaphone SIM cards.

Is your GeoSite up to date?

12:47 pm | Posted by Martin

The current latest build of GeoSite is 5.1.128 for which the update file can be downloaded from the KOREC website. Keeping up to date with software builds allows the user to take full advantage of any improvements and advances made within the packages.

All of the latest builds of GeoSite 5.1 survey processing software can be found at:

http://www.korecgroup.com/resources.php?cat=software

This page on the website is updated every time a new build is released, so don’t forget to check back from time to time just in case…

It is necessary to have a current software support warranty in order to be able to install the latest updates. If you are not sure, or need to check whether your installation is still within warranty give us a call in Land Survey & Construction Support either on 0151 931 6722 or on 0845 603 1214 (follow the option keys) and we’ll be able to find out for you or take the necessary steps to extend your software warranty.

Downloading via Data Transfer

12:46 pm | Posted by Martin

Just had Survey Controller on your data logger updated? Getting an error similar to the following when trying to download you surveys?

“Database error; expects 12.40, actual 12.46″.

Then it’s time to update your Trimble DataTransfer utility. This is a utility that converts the data from the Survey Controller job file into a format that can be read by the various survey software processing packages.

Most of you will be more familiar with Data Transfer in the guise of TrimLink, or Trimble Link Engine, as used by GeoSite, LSS, 4CE, etc… This is basically a slimmed down version of Data Transfer that is also brought up to speed by installing the latest version of Data Transfer on your PC.

The current latest version of Data Transfer is v1.49 and can be downloaded from http://www.trimble.com/datatransfer.shtml. Keep an eye out for updates on this page whenever a new update to Survey Controller or Trimble Access is released.

NCE, GW and Rail Engineer get the story from Trimble

The last couple of weeks has seen the KOREC Hungingdon office playing host to Trimble GeoSpatial’s Eric McCuaig who has been offering customised introductions to Trimble’s GeoSpatial Mobile Data Capture System.  Along with potential UK users, Eric also took the time to present the system (and field some very intensive questioning) to key UK press contacts.

Subject: Trimble R6/R8 GPS Receiver: Configuring the Internal Radio as a Repeater

Products: Trimble R6 GPS receivers and Trimble R8 GPS receivers

Question: How do I configure the R6/R8 internal radio as a repeater while performing a rover survey?

Answer: Use Bluetooth® wireless technology to connect the R6/R8 receiver to the controller.

On the controller, from the main menu select Configuration / Survey Styles / RTK / Rover radio.

In the Type field select Trimble Internal, and in the Method field select Trimble 450/900.

Tap Connect.

Configure the following settings:

Frequency: Select the frequency from the list.

Radio operating mode: Repeater 1.

Base radio mode: TT450s at 9600 bps.

Channel Sharing. The options are:

None: The radio ignores other transmissions on the specified frequency and continues to transmit data.

Avoid weak signal: The radio stops transmitting if it detects another radio transmission on this frequency. It resumes transmission when the channel is free of other radio traffic.

Avoid strong signal: The radio stops transmitting if it detects a strong signal, that is, greater than -90 dB.

Network ID: Give a station to avoid conflicting with another user on the same Network.

Tap Accept.

Note: Make sure that the UHF transmit option is enabled on the R6/R8 GPS receiver.
