Take a look at this handy handy PDF with all the package features.

Check out all the benefits that a KCP brings you;

Number crunching – How much can a care package save me?

Whilst many of the benefits of a KCP can come under the ‘peace of mind’ umbrella – from knowing that a damaged instrument won’t leave a gap in your fleet due to our replacement unit service or the reassurance of guaranteed turnaround times with no need for approvals – we also know that the numbers have to make sense. That’s why our KCP’s have been designed to bring excellent value for money and substantial cost savings, eg:

Cost savings on a sample Robotic Total Station 3 year package

Without a KCP Gold package – £3010

(Not including any possible failures: Cost of full service and calibration, 3 years – £1,600; Collection and delivery – £160; Hire instrument – £500; L2P (Locate to Protect) 3 years, £750)

With a KCP Gold package – £2461 (saving approx. 20%)

…and don’t forget, this is not including any hardware issues, for example, a main board replacement on an S-Series is over £1,800 including labour and calibration

Why KOREC customers rate a KCP

PBH Surveys have used the KOREC Care Package (KCP) for six years now. The service not only provides a cost saving, allowing for our total stations to be calibrated twice a year but more importantly assures that all our kit is in great condition. Resultingly, our kit is maintained to the highest quality allowing us to provide a quality service to our clients whilst meeting industry standards. With our teams surveying seven days a week the like for like hire replacements (arranged by KOREC before collection of our kit) result in zero stand down or delay to our clients. The KCP allows for a complete peace of mind service. Rob Kay, Head of Geomatics,

“We subscribe to the KOREC Care Package, as this provides us with peace of mind knowing that there is a robust system in place to have our equipment serviced and calibrated annually.  The Workshop and Hire Teams are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them.  The turnaround for equipment replacement hire and repairs is speedy and runs smoothly.” Atlantic Geomatics

“I believe the KCP offers good value for money.  It is reassuring to know that whatever happens the instrument is covered, whether it’s the annual calibration or remedial repairs.  The inclusion of a hire kit ensures that the business productivity is not affected.” Sunshine Surveys

A well-established policy of embracing survey technology has enabled Newry based contractor Felix O’Hare to position itself as one of the most enterprising companies in Northern Ireland for BIM and digital construction. So it comes as no surprise that under the guidance of Senior Site Engineer, Wayne Nolan, a driving force behind the advancement of survey technology within the company, that Felix O’Hare was one of the first companies in Ireland to adopt a KOREC supplied Trimble RTS and FieldLink system.

Wayne had a clear idea of what he required from a BIM compatible digital setting-out system and this useful case study explains exactly what he wanted and how he met those demands. Read the full story here.

Versatile, cost-effective, rugged and the ideal half-way house between a phone and a tablet, the Trimble’s TDC600 rugged Android mobile device is now a perfect fit for the land surveyor as well as the mapping professional. Why? …. because it now supports Trimble Access 2020!

If you’re after something with more functionality than the TSC3, but maybe more cost-effective and a lot smaller than our top of the range TSC7, then the TDC600 is well worth a look.

Access will look and feel exactly the same on a Trimble TDC600 (right) as it does on a TSC7

There are many reasons why we feel the TDC600 is the perfect fit for all geospatial professionals land surveyors and field data collectors alike, but here are just six of them:

  1. Trimble Access 2020 is now available on the TDC600 – that means lower-cost entry for those wanting to use Trimble Access software and its familiar workflows
  2. It fits in your back pocket and it’s highly portable – for example you can use the Bluetooth link to Trimble’s R12i (and other Trimble GNSS) to create one of the lightest systems available!
  3. Large capacity, user replaceable, all day battery. With a light system you could be travelling further and will need that all-day battery life.
  4. It’s a smartphone as well, all be it an ultra-rugged one (IP67) with a 15cm HD screen display, which is great for reducing the number of devices required in the field
  5. You can perform robotic surveys by connecting your TDC600 to your instrument using the Trimble TDL2.4 radio.
  6. For field data collectors, it’s the perfect platform for KOREC’s K-Mobile data capture software and fully compatible with the Trimble Catalyst™ on demand GNSS positioning service

Our KOREC mapping expert, Richard Gauchwin has given it a thorough testing and declared it ‘…the best device I’ve seen from Trimble that does everything exactly as it says it will and makes a perfect system with Trimble Catalyst and K-Mobile.”

Our SW area Regional Sales Director Rob Judge rates its tidy form factor, ‘….pocket sized and lightweight, I’d recommend the TDC600 to all those surveyors who have to cover large sites or walk long distances but still want the full functionality of Access software and a decent screen that can be viewed landscape or portrait.’

Versatile, cost-effective, rugged and the ideal half-way house between a phone and a tablet, Trimble’s TDC600 rugged, Android mobile device is now a perfect fit for the land surveyor as well as the mapping professional. Why? …. because it now supports Trimble Access 2020!

However, who better to ask than KOREC customer, Ted Harland, Managing Director of Tri-Tech Ltd?

One of the first to purchase a TDC600 for use with his Trimble fleet was Ted Harland, Managing Director of Yorkshire based Tri-Tech Ltd. With an extensive portfolio of Trimble equipment including Trimble’s most recent release, the R12i GNSS, Ted heard about the TDC600 from a fellow surveyor and was initially attracted to it as an alternative to his Windows based Trimble TSC3 and TSC7 data loggers. As a Google Drive user for storage he knew that the Android interface would offer seamless integration as well as providing a potentially useful upgrade to his TSC3’s. He has therefore been testing it rigorously over the past weeks and has kindly shared his thoughts with the KOREC team.

“I’ve been very, very impressed with the TDC600 for a number of reasons. The modern Android interface brings all the slickness, ease of use and extended functionality you’d expect including access to the apps store so that whilst I’m in the field I can now use a CAD viewer, a calculator and of course regularly check weather updates. However the main plus is that it’s a fantastic platform for Access 2020 which is far slicker to use than its Windows counterpart and brings additional features such as a split screen and quick start up.

However, the proof of any piece of kit is how it functions in the field under typical site conditions. I’ve used the TDC600 with gloves on, I’ve used it in the lashing rain and it has still delivered great performance. It’s very light, and when combined with our Trimble R12i, it will be the lightest solution we have, something that all our surveyors will appreciate. I’ve also linked it up to our Trimble Robotic Total Stations using an external radio, something that took me just a few minutes to do. Whilst it’s not a replacement for the TSC7 which is a real workhorse, it will definitely be a useful, slick and cost-effective addition to our fleet. I’m impressed.”

What better time than Christmas to thank KOREC’s unsung heroes, especially those who make up our in-field, regional technical support team – and that’s exactly what our KOREC customers have done!

Our technical support field team are answering their phone out of hours, sorting out site problems in all weathers and can turn your bad day into a good one with their knowledge and commitment.

So we wanted to highlight their knowledge, commitment & dedication to excellent customer care, by sharing some of your comments;

Leigh with the mighty X7 at our recent ‘Bouncing Back’ events in Leeds – and a slightly younger Leigh in his South African survey days

Leigh Rowell – Geospatial Technical Support, North East

“We have known Leigh for over a year now and are very happy with the exceptional services he provides. He is always available and ready to come to us if we are having technical issues with our equipment. We have had quite a few over this time and Leigh will go out of his way to make sure we are running like clockwork again as soon as possible. His knowledge and expertise are first class, and his friendly approach is always welcoming.

John Gibson, Gibson Surveying and Mapping Ltd

“Leigh has been instrumental in assisting us in the field on numerous occasions. We have been in some sticky situations and had the ability to rely on Leigh to guide us through. You have a star of an employee. He isn’t afraid to tell us that he doesn’t know the answer, but give him the time and he will find the answer no matter what time of day we call. The ability to find the answers and be open and honest are what sets Leigh apart from the rest.”

Sean Smith, ZS Surveys

“In every aspect of our Trimble kit and how we use it, Leigh has always helped us out whenever we have needed help or advice. In early 2020 we purchased a SX10, and during our learning process Leigh has been invaluable in his help and guidance on making the most of not only the SX10 but also in the decision to purchase Trimble Business Center. When ever we have had a question Leigh has always delivered, even if he has not always been able to give us the answer we hoped for, his honest and approachable manner is first class. When ever he has not been able to give an exact answer immediately, he has never failed to come back to us, in fact has never failed to return an email or phone call. And from one “Tech guy” to another, he is exactly the kind of “Tech guy” you wish to deal with; as he always puts our needs first and indeed from your perspective could not be a better ambassador for Korec. There is no way for me to rate Leigh’s performance other than 5*.”

Chris Best, Gridmark Survey

If you’d like to say thanks or highlight some great service from one of our technical support team, why not drop us an email and let us know?

We are delighted to announce that KOREC’s Irish & UK workshops have achieved their Trimble Authorised Service provider Certification for another two years.

The Certification process is an important part of our aim to provide a world class service for our Trimble equipment users and examines KOREC’s facilities, technical abilities, tooling and equipment required to maintain the high standards required to become a Trimble Authorised Service Provider.

KOREC workshops are fully authorised by Trimble to service their products to the highest level available to the Trimble dealer network, for both warranty and non-warranty service. Additionally, our prize winning workshops  are also fully authorised to certify Trimble instruments requiring annual calibrations.

Always socially distanced – KOREC takes the health and safety of staff very seriously

Join our Huntingdon workshop team as a Service Technician!

We have an opportunity for an experienced Service Technician to join our busy Huntingdon workshop.Whilst previous knowledge of any surveying equipment would be an advantage it is not essential, as full product training will be given.

Thank you to SEP Rail Services for the recent LinkedIn post reminding us all why it’s important to stay vigilant against the every present risk of instrument theft.

SEP Rail Services includes some of its own useful tips for theft avoidance and on what to do if you do fall victim. Here at KOREC we’d like to add some more suggestions:

Not just onwards…but upwards! 2021 will soon be upon us but did you know that January will also see a set of new EU harmonisation regulations applicable to all commercial drone pilots?

This is just one of the key topics that we’ll be covering in our upcoming webinar hosted by the KOREC Mapping team and our partners at senseFly.

As well as outlining how a senseFly eBee can assist in meeting these new regulations, we’ll also be offering an unbeatable deal – get up to £4000 for your Total Station or GNSS when you trade it in for a senseFly eBee X with RTK activation – which will make owning a senseFly eBee RTK (with a choice of one of the premium sensor options) an attractive and achievable choice for 2021.

The webinar will cover:

Adding a senseFly eBee to your survey fleet is also a great way to ensure that you can continue operating during any future COVID related restrictions. Social distancing is one of the best methods to avoid coming into contact with the virus and consequently reduce the chances of infection. Therefore it comes as no surprise to learn that drones are experiencing a new surge of popularity as the balance tips towards any socially distanced solution that can enable surveyors to complete existing projects and start new ones.

We do hope you’ll join us for this exciting session, and prepare to get 2021-ready!

Here’s a question. How do you continue to motivate, inspire, inform, or even just get your teams together during a national lockdown?

Whilst 2020 has been unusual (to say the least), for KOREC, we were already quite used to remote working & collaboration. Serving two nations, and with staff the width and breadth of the country, regular communication via phone, email, virtual chat or even Whatsapp was already the norm for many.

But for those used to office working or field working, now confined to the kitchen table at home, we realised that it was more important than ever to ensure everyone felt connected & informed.

That’s why we launched our virtual lunch ‘n’ learn series in October. The objective was simple – every 2 weeks, we invite everyone in the organisation to a brief overview of a product, solution or application. The vibe is informal – questions and interruptions are very much welcomed, prizes are awarded, and of course, lunch is munched.

It’s the perfect opportunity for a refresher on a particular product, an introduction to the latest piece of kit on the market, all presented by one of our in-house experts. For our people, it’s a reminder of the sheer variety & versatility of the solutions that KOREC offers, be it land survey, drone, rail, highways, mobile mapping…the list goes on.

It’s an excellent way for many of us to take 30 minutes out of our day, to get together, have a chat, and even learn something new.

So far, we’ve held 3 sessions;

An overview of our in-house, K-Matic software suite, presented by Darrell Theobalds

Introduction to the R12 & R12i GNSS systems & ProPoint, hosted by Leigh Rowell

Laser scanning made simple, with the X7, presented by Melvin Penwill

And we have many more up our sleeves going into 2021.
