The Radiodetection CAT (Cable Avoidance Tool) is the essential first line of defense for safe excavation. Simple, robust, and reliable, it quickly detects buried utilities – reducing risks, preventing costly damage, and ensuring safer sites with every dig.
Radiodetection’s CAT and Genny system is a classic utility locating solution, where the Genny transmitter sends a signal along buried cables or pipes and the CAT receiver detects it to accurately trace the route. For more advanced locating, the SuperCAT adds enhanced features such as automatic depth measurement, current readout, and improved interference rejection, making it faster and easier to locate utilities safely and reliably in challenging environments.

StrikeAlert™ warns the operator of shallow buried utilities, while the SWING™ warning alerts of incorrect usage patterns, encouraging corrective action. C.A.T4’s Dynamic Overload Protection feature automatically filters out high levels of interference, allowing operators to continue working even in electrically noisy areas such as substations and under high-voltage cables.

Small cable locating
Simultaneous dual frequency and simple, intuitive, locating methods assist C.A.T4 and Genny4 users to locate Small Diameter cables such as telecom twisted pairs, CATV feeds, spurs and drop-offs which have historically been hard to find and a common strike risk.
SuperCAT4 option
Used to locate a comprehensive set of active frequencies to support the detection and tracing of different cable types in varied environmental conditions. Higher frequencies such as the 131kHz or 65kHz can be used to find well-insulated utilities such as twisted-pair telecom cables or insulated pipe joints. For long range locating of lower resistance cables, such as power lines, lower frequency options are available.
