The Trimble VX Spatial Station captures photography and basic point scans for processing within the RealWorks software package. The combination of photography combined with reference scan points makes it easy to extract information from the data as measurements, polylines, meshes and CAD models. This hardware and software combination is particularly useful for elevation surveys and volume surveys.
This course starts by covering the specifications of the VX, what can be captured and strategies for capturing data for different applications. A practical fieldwork data capture exercise is performed, which will provide data for later processing in RealWorks.
RealWorks is the data processing software package for use with photography/scan data from the VX. An introduction to the RealWorks software package is provided, along with the key basic operations such as segmentation. The processing functions most commonly employed with VX data are then covered, such as measurements, polyline drawing, volume calculation and image rectification.
The VX can also be used as a robotic high specification (1”) total station. Trimble Access is the controller software used on this course.
