Trimble® FastMap WorkFlow is a data management package that allows easy transfers of data to and from your data logger and to and from third party GIS/CAD applications. WorkFlow also handles map conversion and data collection planning, which is all covered in a series of training exercises.
The main advantages of WorkFlow are its ease of use and the ability to perform rapid data conversion between numerous popular formats. The FastMap Mobile section will focus on an overview of data logger hardware, GPS functionality (with whichever receiver is used), and quick, efficient and accurate data collection mostly. These topics are mostly covered in an outdoor field session.
Objectives
Those completing this module/course will be able to:
- Understand the fundamentals of GPS including limitations and accuracy factors
- Understand your GPS hardware and operating system including calibration, charging and general trouble-shooting
- Become familiar with the layout and functionality of WorkFlow including background map conversion, import/export options and the ATP Editor for easy form creation.
- Learn about the file formats FastMap works in and become proficient in data transfer to and from the rover data logger.
- Learn about the functionality of FastMap Mobile including adding mapping, manual data collection user preferences, etc.
- Become proficient at configuring the GPS and data collection using a variety of techniques in a thorough practical exercise
- Learn how to bring data collection results into FastMap WorkFlow, display and manipulate map views and export to a wide range of 3rd-party applications
