For more precise data collection and greater data collection functionality, Trimble® FastMap Tablet is the product to use. FastMap Tablet is generally used for data collection on a tablet p.c. and often in conjunction with high precision receivers.
The advantages of Tablet include instant Microsoft Access database linkage, cutting office hours for data syncing from a logger, and the ability to convert data sets in the field with all the functionality of FastMap Office. Training will include a hardware overview, project setup, and thorough data collection exercises.
Objectives
Those completing this module/course will be able to:
- Understand the fundamentals of GPS including limitations and accuracy factors
- Understand your GPS hardware and operating system including calibration, charging and general trouble-shooting
- Become familiar with the layout and functionality of Tablet, and perform a variety of map import exercises
- Learn about the file formats of FastMap and project setup using the ATP Editor to create forms for efficient data collection
- Be able to connect a GPS receiver to tablet PC via serial cable or Bluetooth and configure FastMap Tablet to receive the GPS string
- Become proficient at data collection with a practical session using various techniques to optimise results and maximise efficiency in the field
- Be able to edit results with CAD functionality, produce plans and export to a wide range of 3rd-party applications
