Surveying & Setting Out with SCS900 & Data Manager Course

Prev Next

SCS900 is Trimble's Construction field software for SPS range GNSS and robotic total stations. It provides numerous setting out, surface modeling, grade checking and volume calculation functions in the field. Its ease of use allows an inexperienced agent, foreman or senior engineer to control the site with simple step by step on screen prompts.

Trimble Data Manager and Office Synchronizer are supplied with SCS900 and provide office based tools for managing site information and synchronizing data to and from any number of SCS900 controllers.  The Microsoft Excel based Report Utility provides a familiar spreadsheet environment for the production of setting out reports and export of survey information.

At the start of the course the SCS900 file structure and data organization is covered. There are then a number of options available depending on what type of instrument is being used with SCS900

Option 1: Total station
Option 2: GNSS VRS or Base/Rover
Option 3: Advanced GNSS

The appropriate options can be selected when booking on to the course. The course trainer can assist in selecting the correct options.

The course provides a good overview of the setting out and survey operations within SCS900, plus how to check grades and calculate volumes in the field. The Report Utility is used towards the end of the course to generate setting out reports and export survey data.
