Trimble PCS900 Paving Control System is a 3D automatic screed control system that can significantly improve paving productivity and the ride ability of road and airport surfaces by directly referencing off the road design. The result is a very smooth final paved surface, higher productivity and less material usage.
Contractors can lay asphalt or base material where there is no accurate reference surface, such as when laying base material or at airports and large commercial surfaces.
- Lay the finish surface at an accuracy of three millimetres (1/100ft)
- Sonic tracer allows you to pave within a tighter tolerance and get closer to the minimal asphalt thickness specification
- Advanced controller has a large, easy-to-understand display and allows simpler operation
- Pave slopes of 0.5% accurately and consistently
- Achieve excellent ride ability results and finish on-time
ACCURATE PAVING WITHOUT A REFERENCE SURFACE OR STRING LINES
On new roads, base material must be laid accurately to increase the material yield and profitability of the ensuing asphalt or concrete laying operation. By paving the base to design correctly the first time, contractors can save on the cost of rework and additional material. On resurfacing jobs, road-waves can be reduced or eliminated by paving in 3D to a smooth design, allowing the contractor to gain their ride ability bonus. Some jobs may call for a combination of a Trimble 3D milling and 3D paving solutions to build to specification and maximize profits.
PCS900 allows you to pave in a stake-less environment. This saves time and effort of setting and adjusting string lines and increases truck productivity by eliminating the need to drive around string lines. You load design data into the Trimble CB430 Control Box and the machine automatically keeps the screed on design. Using the Trimble SPS930 Universal Total Station, the exact position, accurate cross slope and heading of the screed is measured. This is especially advantageous for complex design surfaces such as transitions, super elevated curves, and frequently changing cross slopes.
The Trimble PCS900 Paving Control System is the 3D extension of a Trimble PCS400 Paving Control System. The contractor can easily switch from grade and slope (2D) mode to 3D mode on each side of the screed. The PCS400/PCS900 combination provides the customer the choice between sonic sensors, slope sensor, contact sensors, 3D slope and 3D elevation control. It is also possible to mount the Trimble PCS900 system on top of the MOBA-Matic CAN paving control system. This way the contractor can reuse his current MOBA investment and still benefit from the Trimble PCS900 platform.
