The Trimble LM80 Layout Manager is a pocket-sized, personal setting out manager that lets you carry, manage, work with and set out the site plan. The LM80 field controller is often used with a total station but can be used in a basic mode with tapes only.
The setting out points or site plan can be input manually or uploaded from a CAD drawing. If uploading from a CAD drawing then the LM80 Desktop software is used in the office to select and transfer the required points onto the LM80 for field use.
This course provides a good overview of the office and field software; the interface, menus and main operations. The main focus is the orientation of the total station using the LM80 and set out of the site plan, either as points or from lines. In addition to setting out operations, topographic survey is also covered. Following the field work practice survey data and setting out reports are exported.
