KOREC Announces Dates for GPStech08 Utility GPS Seminars
KOREC is pleased to announce a series of free one day Seminars across the country, aimed at Highway Authorities, Utility Companies and Utility Contractors exploring the use of GPS for the new Street Works Act and other Utility Applications. The day will comprise of "hands on" GPS demonstrations and Utility Case Study presentations looking at productivity and efficiency savings and how to use GPS with the new legislation.
Delegates will be given an overview of how GPS works, including the accuracies achievable and limitations, a brief look at the different types of GPS receiver and an opportunity to ask our experts questions about GPS.
KOREC will then present relevant case studies about how GPS is currently being used by Utility Companies and Contractors. This will include a case study on how to capture the 12 figure OS Grid Reference for highway reinstatement works to satisfy the new Traffic Management Act and produce Form TMA 5 using handheld GPS.
There will also be a case study about the benefits of capturing "As-Laid" utility asset data using high accuracy GPS (<10cm) compared with traditional measurement methods.
This year KOREC is joined by Trimble Resource Management* who will work through a case study about a large utility company using vehicle tracking to increase productivity of field workers, reduce fleet costs, comply with lone worker and health and safety legislation and acheive a significant return on investment.
The seminars take place across the country, starting on June 2nd in Glasgow, moving on to Leeds for the 3rd June, Birmingham for the 4th June, Kew Gardens in London on the 5th June and finishing in Bristol on the 6th June.
