Trimble SNM940 communications system

The new Trimble® SNM940 communications system provides an easy-to-use Wi-Fi connection on the machine and improves construction efficiency by lowering the cost and delay of driving data to and from the office and field. With the SNM940, contractors can quickly transfer and synchronize design files and production data with the office for immediate analysis and action. Contractors can purchase the SNM940 communications system and implement the most appropriate synchronization method for data usage, budget, and collaboration requirements.

On-machine communications, including those offered by the new SNM940 communications system, are an integral component of Trimble Connected Site™ solutions. These solutions streamline the workflows between the head office, field crews, site supervisors, and machine operators, and allow contractors to more effectively manage projects at greater distances from the office.

Flexible Communications Options Using the SNM940 Communications System

The SNM940 supports two methods for synchronizing information between machine, office or field staff—via Trimble SiteVision® Office software or the Trimble Connected Community (TCC).

Office-to-site connectivity is possible in near real-time via two-way data connection with Trimble SiteVision Office software. Up-to-the-minute information about site progress and operator status such as production and compaction, design files, operator screens, point data, text messages, and machine diagnostics can be transferred to office or field users without operator intervention or impact on machine operation. Significant site-wide productivity gains can be achieved with real-time design file changes can be sent from office to machine or site supervisor to ensure operators are working with the most current information. This is particularly beneficial for large contractors or long linear projects where the robust functionality of Trimble SiteVision Office software is also needed for managing machine data and productivity information. Field systems can receive updated software and firmware using this real-time site connectivity without the cost and effort of driving to each site to physically upload new software and firmware.

The SNM940 can also remotely synchronize project data with the office or site supervisor through the TCC. The machine operator can initiate synchronization of machine data files at any time with a single button push on the in-cab machine control display. Production and compaction data can be transferred back to the office or supervisor for analysis and progress monitoring. The flexible TCC synchronization method is ideal for smaller contractors or sites where there are fewer machine resources to manage. TCC gives contractors the ability to synchronize data to/from the machine plus other file sharing, versioning, and collaborative tools.
