Galliford Try are the contractors on the £300 million Scotswood regeneration project, a 62-hectare scheme in the west end of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and will carry out most of the £19m-worth of site preparation work. Of course a job like this is a perfect showcase for the Trimble SPS range of products and PQS Survey were quick to introduce Galliford Try to both KOREC and Trimble’s SPS882 GPS and TSC3 logger with SCS900 Site Controller software on board. Construction Index has the full story.

Halfway through the second day of Trimble Dimensions 2010 in Las Vegas and the KOREC delegation are still standing. We arrived in Vegas on Saturday, a small group made up of KOREC staff and customers looking forward to a three day conference with a bit of sight-seeing thrown in for good measure. The theme for Trimble Dimensions this year is Converge. Connect. Collaborate. Trimble’s President & CEO Steve Berglund opened the conference on Monday using his Keynote address to discuss how organisations can use technology and innovation to create and enable collaboration and that with “intelligent use of information they… Read More

Yesterday I was out training on a very muddy site in Cheshire. The site is using Trimble GNSS kit for surveying and have also been using machine control at earlier stages in the earthworks. The Base GNSS receiver is an SPS851 with the data logging option enabled in it. With the data logging option enabled it is possible to log raw GNSS data that can be post processed using RINEX data from the Ordnance Survey to obtain an accurate National Grid fix. A couple of questions arose during the training. Firstly what would happen if the SPS851 is powered down whilst it is… Read More

The KOREC Machine Control team recently accompanied a number of our key customers to Trimble’s Machine Control demonstration day in Madrid. Customers were given the opportunity to see for themselves first hand the benefits of using Trimble productivity solutions and to get onto the machines to learn just how easy-to-use the systems are. The Madrid TCL event follows the success of last year’s event in the UK which was supported by KOREC. Demonstrations included updates on the Trimble Site Positioning Systems with sessions on the SPS Supervisor System, SPS RTK GPS with SCS900 as well as new introductions that included… Read More
