Back in May last year we posted a blog publicising the SenseFly Swinglet CAM featuring on Channel 4’s Time Team. This week was the premier of that episode. KOREC’s Mapping Consultant Martyn Palmer was on set to demonstrate the UAV and explained to Tony Robinson how it works. The Swinglet uncovered some vital clues for the project. The time team usually use helicopters to capture their aerial photography however this time opted for new technology instead. At the start of December the London Mapping Festival held their 2012 Showcase at the home of cricket; Lord’s in London. The show is the UK’s largest, free to attend exhibition for the mapping and surveying community. The prestigious venue saw over 450 attendees, 48 exhibiting organisations and a full schedule of keynotes and master class presentations. The KOREC stand contractors will be heading off to the NEC early on Sunday morning to join a whole fleet of vehicles and contractors vying for the elusive parking space as close to the exhibition hall as possible for the construction of the stands. The swinglet CAM is a lightweight, unmanned air vehicle (UAV) with a high resolution electronically integrated digital camera.
