Digital data capture myths

KOREC Group

This month sees the publication of KOREC’s first column in our new series in Geo:Connexion UK. The column is aimed at dispelling five great data collection myths. First up is ‘Counting the Cost’ by KOREC Mapping Consultant Richard Gauchwin. Richard does the maths on pen and paper v. digital data capture methods. Trimble Juno is Tasmanian Choice

Many thanks to Stephanie Mills and Mike Smith from the School of Geography, Geology and the Environment at Kingston University, who took the time to remind us just why the Trimble Juno is so popular. Undertaking fieldwork in Tasmania as part of CEESR (Centre for Earth and Environmental Science Research) they kindly sent us this report: Fieldwork was undertaken in Tasmania to reconstruct the deglaciation of the St Clair valley during the last glacial cycle. These events were the perfect showcase for the Trimble Juno, our best-selling feature rich 2-5m GPS and as ever, our mapping team rose to the challenge with live demonstrations and a detailed cost/benefit analysis that really brought home the benefits of working wirelessly… Read More

Precision farming experts were called in and information from an aerial survey showed where Adam was over fertilising on certain areas of his land. By using the Nomad’s map… Read More
